Working with Webclients

HeadsUp Clients are your secret weapon to take your shows to the next level. Using Clients, every machine that has a browser can be turned into an extra display, including phones and tablets.

Servers

First, make sure all devices you want to link are connected to the same local network. Then create a new Server by hitting the big Add button in the top right. Next, simply point the browser on your phone (or any other machine) to the URL shown to the right of the Server and presto, you have a second monitor ready to go.

Connected Clients will always show the currently selected Cuelist and when timecode is running, they will count down exactly in time with the main machine. Each Server can have multiple Clients connected to it, and you can create as many Servers as you need.

Tip! Hit the copy icon next to the URL to copy the address directly to your clipboard, or hit the QR icon to get a nice big QR code with the address ready for scanning. If you have a lot of Servers set up, you can also use the Action menu in the top to quickly copy all details to the clipboard

Servers can be renamed by clicking their name and deleted by hitting the big red X on the right.

Unique Views

Each Server can have Categories enabled and disabled to create unique views. For instance, you can create a special view that shows all Pyro and SFX Cues, but hides the Video and Light Cues. A photographer can pull up this view on their phone to make sure they don’t miss the big fireworks shot. Similarly, you can create a view that has general show and performance Cues, which can be placed backstage to help the stage manager and performers time their entrance and exits.

To disable/enable a Category for a Server, just click the dot representing that Category. All Clients connected to that Server will update their view in realtime.

Network Selection

Using the Network Selection dropdown, you can specify on which network interface HeadsUp will create its Servers. By default, it will accept connections on Any Network, but it can be useful to choose a specific network to keep traffic separated from the Art-Net or Showkontrol networks.

Tip! When using Any Network, HeadsUp will default to using your computer’s local host name as its URL. This works fine on most computers, but can be problematic on some phones. In that case, just switch the dropdown to the actual network you’re connected on, to see the actual IP and port combination.

Wait! I still have questions!
