Running a show

The main Show view is where the action happens.

At the top, you will always see the current timecode, or the last received timecode if there is no timecode running.

On the right hand side, you will see the FPS that HeadsUp has detected based on the audio coming in. On the off chance that it’s not able to correctly determine the FPS, you can click the correct FPS to override.

On the left hand side, a little yellow warning icon will flash if any problems are detected with the incoming LTC audio. This includes abrupt changes to the LTC time when timecode is started and stopped, but can also indicate noise, clipping, low input levels or a wrong FPS setting.

Cues

While timecode is running, HeadsUp will automatically switch the Cuelist with the corresponding offset and run through the show. For each Cue, it will count down the last three seconds before it hits. It will also scroll through the waveform, showing each Cue as a vertical marker in its corresponding color.

Tip! In case Cuelists overlap, HeadsUp will pick the first Cuelist that has the current LTC time between its start time and last cue time. But yeah, you shouldn’t have Cuelists with overlaps to begin with because you can’t run two shows at the same time. Not in the part of reality that we can observe anyway.

Previewing

When no timecode is coming in, you can switch between Cuelists by clicking their name. You can also scroll through the Cues as well as scroll and zoom in and out on the waveform.

Once timecode starts again, both the Cues and the waveform will jump back to the current position. If you were on a different Cuelist, it will also reselect the correct list.

Cue Visibility

You can choose to hide specific Categories from the Show view to focus on the Cues that matter most. If video is running along with timecode anyway, you can choose to hide the Video Category to help you call the pyro shots for the local pyro team.

You disable/enable Cues by toggling the eye icon in the dropdown on the top-left. It’s perfectly safe to do this as timecode is running. The view will update in realtime.

Wait! I still have questions!
